Paper

Paper

High Divide Minerals’ CT® talc products offer exceptional value in the pulp and paper industry. These products are used across a wide range of applications, from fine paper to recycled corrugated fiberboard.

CT® talc products are UL 2908 certified and consist of 100% pre-consumer recycled materials used in ceramic bodies. They provide an economical solution for controlling pitch and stickies, while also adding value in filler and coating applications.

CT® Talc

High Divide Minerals CT® talc products stand out from other pitch control solutions due to their unique physio-chemical surface configuration—with oleophilic upper and basal surfaces and hydrophilic edges. The oleophilic surfaces absorb pitch and stickies, while the hydrophilic edges bond with fibers in the paper web.

Additionally, CT® talc products possess an extra surface that offers more absorption sites for attachment to the fibers. This unique structure allows for efficient incorporation of pitch, stickies, and talc particles into the fiber web of the paper, facilitating their removal from the papermaking system. The retention of talc acts as a fiber replacement, leading to additional savings that are not achievable through chemical methods of pitch and stickies control.

When integrated into the paper fiber web, talc functions as a filler, contributing to increased density, smoothness, and improved print quality. Talc also enhances the paper's resistance to scuffing and print mottling, resulting in higher-quality printed images. In coating applications, CT® talc improves fiber coverage and enhances the runnability and quality of finished paper, particularly for rotogravure and offset printing.

CT® talc improves paper-making in two important ways, making it a highly effective and economical solution for both pitch control and paper quality enhancement

Effective Pitch and Stickies Control

CT® talc’s oleophilic surfaces absorb pitch and stickies, while its hydrophilic edges bond with fibers, allowing efficient removal of contaminants from the paper-making system.

Improved Paper Quality

When retained in the fiber web, CT® talc increases density, smoothness, and print quality, and improves coating performance for high-end printing applications.
