Anti-Block

Anti-Block

High Divide Minerals offers a comprehensive line of products specifically designed for film antiblocking applications. These products are engineered to achieve a critical balance between blocking performance with minimal impact on optical and physical properties.

High Divide Minerals’ antiblock products are tailored for specific film thicknesses, making product size an important consideration when selecting the appropriate antiblock solution. The company’s offerings in the antiblock market are available in distinct sizes to ensure optimal compatibility with various film thicknesses.

Optibloc®

The Optibloc® product line is designed for applications requiring very high clarity, where clarity, transparency, durability, and visual appeal are essential. Common application areas include food packaging, printing and graphics, medical applications, window films, and face shields.

Optibloc® products are designed to minimize the difference in refractive index between the antiblock and the film. By matching the refractive index of the mineral particles to the film, the minerals become “invisible” within the polymer matrix. Furthermore, these products are formulated to limit interactions between talc and other film ingredients, allowing for the rapid elimination of “orange peel” defects and facilitating swift quality production.

Polybloc®

Polybloc® is a specially designed product that features a proprietary coating that enables easier and more complete incorporation of the antiblock into the polymer. Improperly dispersed antiblock products can lead to gel issues, optical imperfections, and strength issues in the film.

ABT ®

ABT® talc products deliver exceptional blocking performance in situations where ultra-high clarity is not a priority. These products set the universal standard for antiblock solutions. ABT® products come in various particle sizes to optimize the ratio of antiblock to film thickness. ABT® products are suitable for standard films as well as those with specific taste and odor requirements.

Talc prevents film from sticking together in two distinct ways, making talc products unparalleled as antiblocking materials.

Surface Asperities

Incorporating small amounts of talc into a film melt creates tiny bumps (known as asperities) on the film surface. These bumps reduce the contact surface area and enable the easy separation of film sheets.

Surface Adsorption

Talc adsorbs the low molecular weight fractions in the polymer melt that contribute to the adhesion of film sheets.
